Mammootty, one of the biggest superstars in Malayalam film industry is starring in a historical period drama, Mamangam. The film is based on Chaaverukal warriors who plot to overthrow Zamerin rulers.
The film was originally shot in Malayam and it will be releasing in Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil.
M Padmakumar is directing this big-budget celluloid and Venu Kunnapilli is directing it on Kavya film company banner.
The trailer of the film was unveiled by noted film producer, Allu Aravind while the first song was launched by Mahi V Raghav.
Speaking at the event, Allu Aravind said Mamangam is the story of a rebel leader, much like Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. The makers had spent big bucks on this project their efforts are to be appreciated. We all know the kind of actor Mammootty is, he is a true legend. I am wishing the entire movie unit all the very best, he said.
Mahi V Raghav said Mammootty starred in over 400 films and introduced around 80-90 directors. The director of Mamangam, Padmakumar did a very good job, he added.
Executive producer Vivek stated this film is releasing in 4 languages and it is based on Kerala history. He thanked Vasu and Geetha Arts for their support. He also thanked Keeravani for composing tunes for this period drama.
Wonder boy, Achyuthan said he learnt martial arts for this film and had to stay away from school for two years. I would like to thank Mammootty garu and my producers for their constant support, he said.
Mammootty said Mamangam has been a remarkable experience for him. We enjoyed shooting for the film. It is based on incidents in 16th and 18th centuries. We used very little CG for this film and preferred to go for sets instead, he said.
