Animal is a multi-language action thriller film directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The film is bankrolled by T-series, Bhadrakali Pictures, and Cine 1 studios. The film has music composed by JAM8, Vishal Mishra, Jaani, Manan Bhardwaj, Shreyas Puranik, Ashim Kemson, and Harshwardhan Rameshwar, cinematography handled by Amit Roy and editing by Sundeep Reddy Vanga. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as a violent man, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Tripti Dimri.

Story –

“Animal” revolves around Ranvijay Singh Balbir (Ranbir Kapoor), who is determined to safeguard his father, Balbir Singh (Anil Kapoor), at any cost. Despite Ranvijay’s profound admiration for his father, the same level of affection is not reciprocated, as Balbir Singh is deeply engrossed in his expansive business empire. Ranvijay’s love takes a new direction when he falls for Geethanjali (Rashmika Mandanna), choosing to share his life with her. Suddenly, Balbir Singh becomes the target of an attack, prompting Ranvijay to embark on a relentless journey to shield his father from harm. The core of “Animal” lies in Ranvijay Singh’s unwavering determination to protect his father amid unexpected adversities.

Analysis –

“Animal” is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, known for his distinctive style seen in “Arjun Reddy.” The story follows Ranvijay Singh Balbir (Ranbir Kapoor), whose strong love for his father, Balbir Singh (Anil Kapoor), leads him into a path of violence and revenge. Unlike typical love stories, this film focuses on the complicated relationship between a father and son.

The first half of the movie, lasting over an hour, is exciting with great acting by Ranbir Kapoor and a compelling soundtrack. However, after the break, the pace slows down, and some parts feel too long. Despite the bold storytelling by Sandeep Reddy, there are some scenes and dialogues that might not sit well with everyone.

“Animal” delves into family bonds and brings out a wild side in Ranbir Kapoor’s character. Yet, the second half loses its impact due to forced and explicit scenes and discussions about personal topics.

Ranbir Kapoor delivers a standout performance, portraying the emotional struggles of a man torn between love, revenge, and family responsibilities. However, the film faces challenges in keeping the momentum, weighed down by excessive violence and bold conversations. While “Animal” may appeal to those who enjoy unconventional storytelling, especially in exploring family dynamics and the darker aspects of love and revenge, its mixed reception reflects its divisive nature.

Highs –

  • Ranbir performance
  • Music
  • Interval Sequence
  • Some parts of the movie

Lows –

  • Didn’t establish the father’s character and the relationship between father and son
  • Lengthy

Technical Aspects –

The songs in the movie are really good, shot nicely with cool camera work. The action scenes are put together well, and the background music by Harshavardhan Rameshwar makes many scenes even better. However, the editing in the last part could be improved by cutting some scenes for a smoother flow.

Sandeep Reddy, the person who wrote and directed the movie, created a different kind of action story. The first half is great and enjoyable for many people. But the part where Ranbir and Rashmika have drama in the second half might not be liked by everyone. Some people might even not like it at all. The story itself isn’t new, but what makes the movie stand out is how Ranbir’s character is shown.

Verdict –

On the whole, “Animal” has some good parts, especially in the first half. Ranbir Kapoor’s acting is outstanding, and the music is really engaging. However, the movie gets a bit heavy in the second half. Still, it might be liked by young folks and those who enjoy bold and unique storytelling styles.
