“I Played a Role Close to My Real Life in Sodara: Heroine Arati Gupta”
Sampoornesh Babu and Sanjosh are playing the lead roles in the film Sodara. Based on the bond between brothers, Sodara is directed by Man Mohan Menam Palli. The film is produced by Chandra Chaganla under the banner of Can Entertainments. Arati Gupta plays the female lead. The film is set to release on the 25th of this month. On this occasion, Arati Gupta interacted with the media on Tuesday and shared some insights.
What’s your background?
I was born and raised in Chandigarh and later settled in Mumbai. I have acted in several Bollywood films before, but Sodara is my debut film in Telugu.
What attracted you to this role?
I liked the story and agreed to do it. It’s a beautiful script — a light-hearted family drama. It’s the kind of movie you can watch with friends or family. I also really liked my character — an innocent village girl who is educated, simple, and dignified.
How was it working with Sampoo and Sanjosh?
Both are really sweet and very cooperative. There’s a lot of energy on set when they are around.
You posted on Instagram that you’re learning Telugu. Why?
At the trailer launch, producer SKN’s words inspired me. Telugu is such a beautiful language. If I want to settle here, I must learn Telugu. Only then will I feel comfortable.
How do you find Hyderabad?
Hyderabad has a special, indescribable energy. It’s calm, and I feel very hopeful that I will get busy with work here.
Tell us about director Mohan Garu.
He’s very cooperative and supportive. He gave me a role with good scope to perform. It’s because of him I could act well.
Have you seen Sampoo’s previous movies?
Yes, I’ve heard of Sampoo. I know he’s an out-of-the-box actor with a strong fan base. I watched his previous movie Martin Luther King.
How was it playing a traditional role?
I’ve played traditional roles before. In real life too, I’m a simple girl. My personality is like that. This character in the film closely resembles who I am in real life.
What genres do you prefer?
I want to do all types of roles and films. I’m open to playing any kind of character if required.
Would you prefer performance-oriented roles or glamorous ones?
I prefer performance-oriented roles. If you act well, you automatically look beautiful. But if you only rely on looks and can’t act, it doesn’t really work. My first priority is performance-driven films.
Which heroine inspires you?
I really like Alia Bhatt. Her journey and the roles she’s taken on inspire me. I also admire her choice of films.
Who is your favorite hero in Tollywood?
I like Allu Arjun a lot. I really enjoy his movies.
What do you like about Telugu cinema?
I love the punctuality and professionalism of Telugu film sets. I also appreciate how all artists are treated equally. There’s still so much I need to learn about Telugu cinema.
