Dhanush’s 2nd Directorial And His 50th Film Raayan All Set To Release Tomorrow 26th July

Raayan, produced by Kalanithi Maran under his Sun Pictures banner, is Dhanush’s second directorial. He also plays the lead role in this movie.

It has an ensemble cast which includes S. J. Suryah, Prakash Raj, Selvaraghavan, Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, Dushara Vijayan, Aparna Balamurali, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Saravanan.

Dhanush’s first directorial was the 2017 movie Pa Pandi, which starred Raj Kiran and Revathi in the leading roles. Dhanush played a younger Pandi and Madonna Sebastion played a younger Poonthendral.

Pa Paandi received critical acclaim. On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 100% of 6 critics’ reviews are positive, with an average rating of 7.5/10. Baradwaj Rangan wrote “But here’s why Pa Paandi works. Rajkiran. He exudes such grandfatherly warmth, it’s impossible not to care for him. And as the second half unfolds, the story picks up too.”

Raayan was officially announced in January 2023 under the tentative title D50, as it is Dhanush’s 50th film as a leading actor, and the official title and first look poster was released on 19 February 2024. Principal photography commenced in July 2023. It was shot predominantly in Chennai and Karaikudi and the filming was wrapped by mid-December.

The film has music composed by A. R. Rahman.

The cinematography was handled by Om Prakash and editing by Prasanna GK.

Raayan was originally scheduled to release on 13 June 2024 in theatres, but was postponed due to unknown reasons. The film is now scheduled to release worldwide on 26 July 2024, coinciding the week of Dhanush’s birthday.

The premise is about a man seeking revenge from those responsible for his family’s murder. This quest leads him into the criminal underworld.

Raayan is being released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi Languages.
