Direction Department

Director is the creator of the story in action on celluloid.  He decides his team for further progress in making the movie.  His team consists of one associate director and 3 to 4 assistant directors. For any story, screenplay is must.  Screenplay is nothing but frame to frame planning of shooting the film.  Choosing Locations, Choosing all other Team Members of different departments is the right of the director for the Success of the Film. Film is nothing but presentation of visual thoughts of the story for acceptance of Filmgoers to view it with satisfaction.  Preparing a good screenplay is a green signal for the director to proceed for shooting. Sooner the screenplay is ready, the director and the producer will choose the actors who suit for the roles for the film.  Selection of actors from top to bottom is the exercise of director. Main purpose of a director is as follows.

1. Studying the story/Accepting the story.

2. Story sittings for correcting mistakes if any, in the story. Appointment of Screenplay and Dialogue Writers is held.

3. Deep study of the screenplay.

4. To decide budget as per the advice of the producer.

5. Basing on the story, deciding actors for all the characters of the film.

6. To decide the Locations for the film shooting.

7. To decide the Budget as per the approval of the Producer.

8. To Appoint a Photographer/Director of Photography.

9. To decide an Art director.

10. To decide a Costumes Designer.

11. To decide Lyrists, Music director.

12. He has to Monitor Recording of Songs/Acceptance of Tunes prepared by the Music director.

13. He has to decide the Production Schedules.

14. He has to sit with the Editor during the editing of the film to Check and approve each edited frame.

15. He has to approve the dubbing Artistes.

16. He has to monitor with the Sound Engineer during Dubbing.

17. He has to check and approve the Publicity Material.

18. He has attended the Synchronization of Sound to the film.

In brief director should involve himself completely in all phases of film making.
