S.S. Rajamouli’s Eega has won 2 awards at recently released National film awards list. It has quenched the thirst of tollywood film industry which did not a single national award for last 4 years. Eega won the award for “Best Regional Film in Telugu” and “Best VFX Special Effects” categories.
Movie Eega won “Best Regional Film in Telugu” after 4 years. Last Telugu film which won “Best regional award in Telugu” was “1940 lo Oka Gramam”. This award was expected as Eega was the only Telugu film that has made it the list of 18 other films selected by the Film Federation of India as India’s nomination for the Oscars for the ‘Best Foreign Language Film’. Many think this movie should’ve been at Oscars instead of Barfi which did not win any awards at National Film Awards.
Next award that Eega won was “Best VFX award”. It also was very deserving as the special effects used in this movie were on par with Hollywood Special Effects. Incidentally the last time Tollywood won award for Best Special Effects was for Rajamouli’s another hit movie “Magadheera”.
Special Effects were designed by Hyderabad-based Makuta VFX studios. The people behind Eega’s ‘fly’, are ‘thrilled’ Source from Makuta, said “Rajamouli came to us with this idea and we had to convert the director’s imagination from thought to screen perfectly. There were many models and iterations and after 15 months of effort, the creature came to life.”
