Intro

After a super hit talk show and a few big screen performances, Lakshmi Manchu is back with the just released Gundello Godari. With a delay in release, this movie has created a buzz in the last few months.

Story:

As most of you guessed from the hoardings and promos there is drama & romance. As the name suggests, the movie revolves around godavari river, the floods that occurred in 1986 and has a well set up backdrop of late 1980’s godavari region. The movie is about a newly married couple getting to know each other by sharing their past. Malli (Aadhi) & Chitra (Lakshmi), the newly married couple share their past relationships and the movie moves to the flashback. Tapasee plays Sarala,  Malli’s lover in the past and Sundeep plays Suri, Chitra’s lover in the past. The rest of the movie is about the two love stories and the coincidence of the married couple’s past.

Performances:

Hailing from one of the biggest artisan family, Lakshmi’s acting performance is unquestionable. Never afraid to experiment or take a risk, Lakshmi has pulled off a good small starer film as a producer. Sundeep & Tapsee played their part while Aadhi has opened doors for himself with a charming performance. Focusing purely on the love story and the intent to convey the seriousness has left no room for any comedy. Palani kumar has been outstanding with his cinematography skills.

Music:

A 1980 love story in the godavari backdrop cannot have a better musician than Illayaraja. If, sometimes, the plot is missing its charm, the background music keeps you glued to the scene. With one item song and a few melodious ones this movie offers a complete musical      package.

Overall: Romance, drama, music & godavari accent are the highlights of the movie. With no big releases, this movie can be the pick of the week. Second half loses its plat in the beginning, but a wait till the end to know what happens is worth it.
