Prakash Raj, the famous character artist of the South Indian film industry , turns 47 today. He was born on March 26th in the year 1965 in Karnataka as Prakash Rai. He debuted into the kannada TV industry with small roles in TV and later on moved into the kannada movies where he was noticed for his dialogue delivery and stunning performances.
K. Balachander then, changed his name to Prakash Raj and gave him an entry into tamil movies with a very powerful role in the Tamil movie Duet. From then on Prakash Raj knew no bounds, rising to popularity through out the South Indian film industry.He rose to fame in the Telugu industry with the movies Gunshot and Vinodam where his roles were unforgettable.
Prakash Raj was seen in many Telugu movies since then including Hitler, Anthahpuram, Rajakumarudu,Kshemanga velli labham ga randi, Badri, Manoharam, Chirunavvutho, Azad, Mrugaraju, Murari, Nuvvu naku nachav, Indra , Idiot, Nuvve Nuvve and many other movies. He has been seen in almost every hit Telugu movie since about a decade, some of them gaining popularity solely because of his acting.
Prakash Raj has been acting in many villainous roles in the beginning, moving to character roles later on. He is known to fit in easily into any role that he plays giving the role a special touch.His role as a father in Bommarillu got him immense fame and since then he has been cast in many movies as a father.He has bagged a number of awards for his outstanding performances , the prominent ones being- the ‘national film award for the best actor’ in Anthahpuram, ‘Filmfare award for the best supporting role’ in Nuvve Nuvve and ‘Nandi award for the best supporting actor’ in Bommarillu.
He has also produced and directed telugu and tamil movies. He has also acted in quite a few Hindi movies with Wanted and Dabangg 2
