K S Chitra is a gifted singer. She is one of the busiest singers in the country. K S Chitra born on 27th of July 1963 at Thituvanthapuram, Kerala. Though a Malayali, She renders her voice for Tamil, Telugu and Hindi language films as a playback singer.
She is from a musician’s family. Her father Krishna Nair was her Guru in carnatic Music. She has learnt Karnatic music from Dr.K.Omana Kutty. She is masters degree holder in music from Kerala University.
She was introduced to Malayalam film industry as a singer by M G Radhakrishnan in the year 1979. She entered the tamil film industry through the ace music director Illayaraja in his film ”Poojaikketra Poovithu”. She has toured the country and abroad with Malayalam singer Yesudas and given many live concerts.
She has worked as a playback singer with popular music directors like Illayaraja, K.V.Mahadevan, M.S.Vishwanathan, Chakravarthy, A R Rehman, Hamsalekha, S A Rajkumar, M M Keeravani, Koti, Rajan-Nagendra, Devi Sri Prasad, Mani Sarma.
Since early 80′s she became domestic name in the Telugu Film Industry.
She has also rendered many hit Hindi Film songs for the Music Directors Rajesh Roshan,Anand Miland, A R Rehman, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Jatin Lalith.
