kongara jaggaiah biographyKongara Jaggaiah was born at Morampudi Village in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh on 31st of December 1928.

Kongara Jaggaiah was a great Actor in Tollywood. He did justice to Hero, villain or character action role.

He had a commanding melodious voice. Prior to entry in to Tollywood, Jaggaiah was a Telugu News Reader in All India Radio, Delhi. He played as second hero characters and villain roles along with Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao in many successful movies.

For almost all the Sivaji Ganeshan acted movies dubbed into Telugu, Jaggaiah leant his voice for Sivaji.

“Aameyevaru” a remake of Hindi film Whoh kaun Thi  was a Suspense Thriller as well the film “Ardharathri”. In both the films Jagaiah played the male lead with ease. In Aameyevaru Jayalitha was in the female lead. In the film Ardharathri actress Bharathi was his heroine.

In K B Thilak directed films, ”Eedu-Jodu” and” Uyyala-Jumpala”, Jaggaiah played the male lead Charectors, his action was admired by the film lovers/critics.

In the film “Alluriseetharamaraju”, He played the role of Rutherford with impressive diction of dialogues.

The films” Jarigina Katha” and” Devalayam” are the best films of Jaggaiah.

In Bapu directed film “Sri Rajeswari Vilas Coffee Club” he played with ease the role of Actress Jayaprada’s father and a coffee shop owner.

Jaggaiah’s action was superb as Savitri’s husband in the films Manasemandiram (Tamil original Sridhar’s Nenjil oru aalayam) and Dr. Chakravarthi.

For the Film Venkateshwaravaibhavam, produced by Thirumala Thirupathi Devasthanam, Jaggaiah leant his voice to narrate the story.

In the film Gudugantalu he performed well the character of N T RamaRao’s friend. Actress Krishna Kumari played the female lead in the film. (Remake of Tamil film ”Alayamani”)

K. Jaggaiah was awarded the Honorary title Kalavachaspathi (For his melodious commanding voice)

K.Jaggaiah was very much involved in politics.

Awards/Honors for Kongara Jaggaiah:-

  • In 1967 Loksabha elections he contested from Ongole and was a Member of Parliament till 1971.
  • The Government of India honored him with Prestegious”Padmabhushan” in the year 1992.
  • He was honored with Honorary Doctor of Literature by Telugu University, Hyderabad.
  • Honored with the title”Kalavachaspathi” by The Sanskrit Viswavidyalaya, New Delhi.
  • Jaggaiah was honored with Kalaprapoorna by Andhra University, Visakhapatnam.

Kongara Jaggaiah died due to heart failure on 5th March 2004 at Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
