Story :

Maharaja is an absent minded simple man who works as a barber. When
his wife and daughter are involved in an accident, his wife dies but
his daughter survives by a miracle. One day, while his daughter is
away for a sports camp, Maharajas home is burglarized. When he wakes
up, he goes to the police station, narrates the whole ordeal and asks
them to please get his Lakshmi back. The police find his request
ridiculous and try to drive him away unsuccessfully. Who or what is
Lakshmi and why is he so desperate to find it is the story.

Review :

While there have been many stories in recent times of a parent getting
revenge for their children, Maharajas screenplay makes it stand out
from the rest. The nonlinear screenplay keeps the story interesting
and connects the characters in unexpected ways. Performances were
great throughout the board. Vijay Sethupathi has delivered yet another
brilliant performance, worthy of his golden jubilee movie. Anurag
Kashyap has done a great job, especially the final scenes of the
movie.

Cinematography was good and music was just right to keep the mood going.

Conclusion :

Maharaja might lure in audiences with its quirky comedy trailer and
U/A certification but it deals with a very serious subject matter and
succeeds in delivering an engaging and emotional story. The screenplay
was well executed and is a major plus point for this movie.
