Mr Pellikoduku is an official remake of hindi movie ‘Tanu weds Manu’. Considering it is a remake of a hit movie and a rom-com and the return of the pair of Sunil and Isha Chawla, this movie made audience have high expectations. Did the movie live up to it? lets see.

Story :

Buchi Babu (Sunil) an ideal and an NRI returned boutique owner who comes to Andhra Pradesh in a bid to find a suitable bride. In his course, he meets Anjali(Isha Chawla) whom he likes and agrees to marry at first sight. A day later, Buchi comes to learn from Anjali that she is not interested to marry him as she already has a boyfriend.

It is now Buchi’s responsibility to find reasons to call off the wedding. As fate would have it, he meets Anjali later at his friend’s wedding in Kerala. The rest of the story is what happens when they meet again?

Performances :

Sunil has delivered good performance and has maintained his comic timing through out the movie. Some of his dance moves are just too good. Isha Chawla looks glamorous in the movie and gives an ok performance, it falls very short of Kangana’s performance in the original. Ali and rest of the supporting cast have done justice to their roles. They manage to evoke quite a few laughs.

Technical aspects :

Devi Prasad who handled screenplay and direction in the movie has done a bad job. The movie’s story has been tweaked a little, from there the movie goes down the lane, they should’ve stuck to the original plot. Comedy scenes are good but all are that funny. Actors characterization fails completely in the movie especially Sunil’s character. Sunil’s makeup is bad. Cinematography is very good in the movie, especially the songs have been shot beautifully. Editing should have been more crisper in the second half.  Music of the film is ok but in second half, there are more songs than necessary. It almost makes you feel restless in the movie. The movie has good production values making the movie feel rich and vibrant.

Conclusion :

The first half of the movie is good with comedy scenes and the lead actors chemistry. But the second half is dragged and the sentimental scenes in it make it worse. Watch the movie for its comedy scenes and if you haven’t seen the original.
