Let’s see how the movie unfolds.
Story:
Basavalingam, played by Sundeep Kishan, is struggling and in need of money for a committed thing. So, he steals jewelry from a wedding with his friend John (played by Viva Harsha). While running from the police, they find Geetha (played by Kavya Thapar) hurt in an accident, so they help her and take her along. They end up in a strange place called Bhairavakona, where strange things start happening. Along the way, we learn why Basavalingam stole the jewelry and how Geetha and another character named Bhoomi (played by Varsha Bollamma) are connected to him. As they explore Bhairavakona, they uncover its mysteries, which are at the heart of the story.
Analysis:
“Ooru Peru Bhairavakona” takes audiences on a mystical adventure, blending fantasy with elements from ancient texts like the Garuda Purana. Directed by VI Anand, the film boasts beautiful music and captivating visuals, thanks to Shekar Chandra’s tunes and Raj Thota’s cinematography. While the technical side impresses, the story struggles to stay clear and deep.
The cast, led by Sundeep Kishan as Basava, brings energy to the tale. Kishan’s performance shines as he portrays Basava’s complexity with skill. Kavya Thapar and Varsha Bollamma also deliver solid performances, though Bollamma’s character, Bhoomi, feels a bit shallow.
The film balances its serious moments with humor, thanks to actors like Viva Harsha and Vennela Kishore, who inject laughs into the story. However, the romance aspect feels rushed and doesn’t fully connect with the audience.
Despite its flaws, “Ooru Peru Bhairavakona” offers an interesting cinematic experience, exploring mystical themes in a fresh way. While it dazzles with its visuals and performances, it leaves viewers wanting a clearer and deeper storyline.
Highs:
- Strong technical aspects
- Impressive performances by the cast
- Memorable songs
- Well-executed comedy scenes
Lows:
- Ineffective narrative
- Lack of depth in Bhoomi’s backstory
- Difficulty in connecting to the emotional aspects
Technical Aspects:
Songs by Shekar Chandra are beautiful. The art department did an excellent job and cinematographer Raj Thota neatly captured the village locations. The editing isn’t up to the mark, as the second half looks rushed. The VFX works is good but could have been better.
Director VI Anand once again chose a different concept, but he didn’t succeed completely. The film has some engaging moments and fun scenes, but we will leave the hall half-hearted due to the weak second half and ending. The emotions, thrills, and suspense elements are not handled well.
Verdict:
“Ooru Peru Bhairavakona” offers a visually captivating journey into the mystical, bolstered by strong performances and technical finesse. However, its narrative inconsistencies and shallow character development leave it falling short of its full potential. While it entertains, it ultimately lacks the depth needed to make a lasting impact.
