S.P.Kodandapani- 100 Years Of Indian Cinema

S.P.Kodandapani was a great music director and also a play back singer of Tollywood.

Sripati Panditharadhyula Kodandapani popularly known as S.P.Kodandapani  born in Guntur. In his childhood, he used to sing songs and also play the Harmonium.

Addepalli Rama Rao gave him a chance to sing in a group song in the movie “Naa Illalu” in 1953. Later he got a chance as an independent singer in the film “Santanam” in the year 1955. He also worked as a harmonium player with the veteran music director Susarla Dakshinamurthy. He even worked under the great music director K.V. Mahadevan for 5 years.

He got a chance as an independent music director through the film “Kanna Koduku” in the year 1961.

He was the person to introduce the great singer S.P.Bala Subramanyam to the Telugu film industry with the film “Sri Sri Sri Maryadaa Ramanna” in 1967.

Kodandapani did a memorable work in the film industry. He had sung the popular song “Idigo Devudu Chesina Bomma” from the movie “Pandanti Kapuram” released in 1972.  He contributed his work to the industry for 2 decades. Some of his songs are memorable and even remembered by the music lovers even today. He was the music director for all the films produced by Rekha Murali and Arts. This was the home production of the great comedian Padmanabham.

His son S.P.Eeshwar is also a  music director .

This great music director left the world on 5th April 1974.
