Savitri was born at Chirravur in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh on 6th December 1935..

Savitri was a great actress with expressive eyes.She was good dancer in Bharathanatyam and Kuchipudi. She was an actress with wide eyes and excellent expression with eyes. Her diction of dialogues was impressive and catchy.

Savitri acted in 150 plus films. Not only in Telugu cinema but was very popular for Tamil film goers acting in many Tamil movies also.

Her action as Sasirekha in the film Mayabazar can be rated as best in her film career.

In the film Devadasu, Savitri lived in the role of Paru (Parvathi).

In the V B Rajendra Prasad’s film Aaradhana, Savitri did justice to the role she played in the film.

As S V Ranga Rao’s daughter-in-law she displayed her acting talent in the film “Naadi Adajanme”

As N T R’s Wife and Chitturu Naggaiah’s daughter-in-law she performed well in the film”Devatha” produced by B Padhmanabham and directed by K Hemambharadara Rao.

Savitri lived in the role of Madhuravani with N T Rama Rao as Gireesam in the film Kanyasulkam.

Savitri’s action as cancer patient Jaggaiah.s wife and Doctor A N R.s former love in the film “Manasemandiram” can be rated as the best in her career (Savitri’s role played by actress Meena Kumari in the Hindi version”Dil ek mandir)

In the film Pandavavanavasam She played the role of Draupathi involving herself in to the character.

As a love to two friend’s characters (A N R and Jaggaiah) in the film Pranamithrulu played by Savitri is excellent.

“Chinnari Papalu” was directed by Savitri.For this movie music score done by great singer P Leela.

Actress Rajasulochana was the Choreographer (dance director) for this movie.

Savitri married Tamil actor Gemini Ganeshan.Popular Hindi Actress Rekha (bhanurekha) is the Daughter of Gemini ganeshan (his first wife’s daughter)
