Thandel Rajulamma Jathara

Significance of Rajulamma Jathara in local Fishermen’s lives

Sri Raja Rajeshwari Devi popularly called as Rajulamma by many devotees is mainly worshiped in Rajulamma Jathara which happens near Srikakulam of Andhra Pradesh every year. The history of this temple where the Jathara happens goes back to 400 years from when the Mylapalli clan fishermen who found the deity in a packed treasure during their search for fish in the ocean. The temple is one of the Shakti peethas and is visited a lot by people from nearby districts in the months of January to March mainly during the Rajulamma Jathara .

This Jathara is mentioned in the dialogues of the upcoming movie Thandel and some portion of the trailer also shows scenes shot based on the actual Jathara. The research done by the team of Thandel and the way they have presented the nativity in the form of visuals and dialogues seems to be interesting and can make for an entertaining watch.
