“THE ANNUAL SKY LANTERN FESTIVAL” was held at the Hitex Grounds on 25th of March, 2012. The concept was to break the world record of sky lanterns which was held by Indonesia and which stands at 10,318 lanterns. And this time the city of Hyderabad came together for the first ever lantern festival in India – The Annual Sky Lantern Festival, in a bid to become a part of history by entering into the Guinness Book Of World Record for unfurling 12,000 lanterns at a time. The proceedings of this event were donated to the Akshara foundation and the IGIVE foundation.
