PRESS NOTE
Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, an Apex Body, representing the entire Telugu Film Fraternity in the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, is pained and anguished at the unpalatable, unverified and personal comments regarding the private lives of Members of Telugu Film Fraternity made by a Hon’ble Lady Minister of Telangana on 02-10-2024 in the Media. Over the years, Celebrities and other Members of Telugu Film Fraternity have become soft targets to many. Let it be known that entire Telugu Film Fraternity stand united in opposing against malafide and vicious remarks made against the Members of Telugu Film Fraternity for gaining attention.
Politics and Film Industry hold significant influence over Society which is very crucial for these sectors to recognize their responsibility towards society and to promote proper cooperation, respect and inclusivity. It is a fact that politicians wield immense power and the films shape cultural narratives. These kinds of incidents highlight the difference between influential figures and the world they inhibit. Freedom of speech in a democratic country should not be misused by influential people and people in power.
It has been observed over the years that it has become a fashion to target personal lives of Members of Telugu Film Fraternity in desperation for diverting attention from pressing issues.
Needless to say that Film Fraternity helps in influencing culture and shaping perspectives of the general public. Politics shape policies affecting the lives. Politicians should prioritize public welfare, and Films create, inspire and reflect society. Let all appreciate the distinction between these two worlds and let us engage constructively for the betterment of the Society at large for the present and future generations.
We request all to refrain and desist from such heinous acts. We also earnestly request our Media friends (Print, Social, Electronics and Digital) to adopt ethical and prudent principles and practices, with responsibility.
Telugu Film Industry has always been in forefront as a secular body without discrimination of race/gender/religion and our fraternity has brought in many National and International laurels.
Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) will stand by its Members now and in future against any such acts of insensitivity involving the personal lives of the Members of the Telugu Film Fraternity and would not hesitate to take strong appropriate steps.
For Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce
