The year 2014 is very encouraging with regards to the number of movie releases but it is very disappointing with collections. The box-office success rate is only 16% out of the 216 movies released
Yevadu,Race Gurram,Legend,Manam,Power,Laukyam,Alludu Srinu are the only blockbusters in this period.Oohalu Gusa Gusalade.Pilla NuvvuLeni Jeevitham, Drushyam , Govindudu Andari Vadele, Karthikeya ,Bheemavaram Bullodu , Ra Ra Krishnayya , Run Raja Run, Geethanjali are the movies that were impressive at Box-office. .
Ram Charan with a flop in 2013(Toofan) has come with 2 hits in ‘Yevadu’ and ‘Govindudu Andari Vadele’.
Balakrishna with 4 successive below average movies has come up with ‘Legend’ a successful movie at box-office.
Allu Arjun movie Race Gurram recorded high collections for an Allu Arjun Movie.
The year started with a much talked about movie ‘1 Nenokkadine’ with Mahesh Babu directed by Sukumar.The major portion of the shooting was done in London and its surrounding areas. The movie introduced Mahesh Babu’s son Gautham as a child artist. The movie failed miserably. Mahesh Babu also failed to impress with his 2nd movie of the year,’Aagadu’ directed by Srinu Vaitla.
Long awaited movie ‘Yevadu’ with many changed release schedules was released as a Sankranthi gift to Ram Charan fans. The movie fared well at box-office.
Nani came with 2 movies Paisa and Aha Kalyanam released with a difference of 15 days but both the movies failed to impress.
RGV came with the movie ‘Rowdy’ with Mohan Babu and this too proved to be a below average movie.
Allari Naresh with his impressive movie ‘Sudigadu’(2012),failed to impress with his recent released movies Laddu Babu,Jump Jilani and Brother of Bommali is yet to regain his minimum guarantee image.
Sekhar Kammula’s movie ‘Anamika’ also failed at box-office.
The producers and directors though tried to impress with varied expensive publicities could not impress with the presentation of stories in those movies.
The debutant Sampoornesh Babu came with the movie ‘Hrudaya Kaleyam with 100% success in Social media net works, but could not impress on the silver screens.
Mohan Babu Starrer ‘Pandavulu Pandavulu Thummeda’ and ‘Rowdy could not impress the audience.
Pathighatana and Prathinidhi were released with high expectations but failed at Box-office.
Director Ram Gopal Varma in his own style made 4 movies (Rowdy,Anukshanam,Ice Cream,Ice Cream 2) but failed to impress.
The Important News:-
S S Rajamouli’s movie ‘Baahibali’ was launched in July 2013.The movie Shooting was continuously done through out the year 2014.May be a record.
Varun Tej,son of Mega brother Naga Babu has debuted as hero with the movie ‘Mukunda’ directed by Srikanth Addala.Mukunda was released on 24.12.2014. Varun is impressive but the movie turned out to be an average grosser.
Akkineni tro(ANR,Nagarjuna Akkineni,Naga Chaitanya) came with the movie ‘Manam’ released in May 2014 and was a big hit at box-office.
Sai Dharam Tej debut movie ‘Rey’ directed by Y.V.S.Chowdary could not be released in 2014,but his 2nd movie ‘Pilla Nuvvu Leni Jeevitham’ directed by A.S.Ravi Kumar Chowdary had a big success at box-office. Sai Dharam Tej won the applauds for action and dancing style.
2014 has surprised every one without the releases of Pawan Kalyan,Prabhas and Rana Daggubati acted movies.Pawan is busy with ‘Gopala Gopala’ and ‘Gabbar Singh 2’.Prabhas is completely engaged in shooting schedules of ‘Baahubali’.Rana Daggubati too is busy with the tight schedules of ‘Baahubali’ and ‘Rudrama Devi’.
There was much talk about Mega Star re-entry in to films with his 15oth movie.This could not happen in 2014,disappointing the entire Mega fans.
Allu Sirish,came back in the year 2014 with his 2nd movie ‘Kottha Janta’ but could not impress with his action.
Akhil, son of Nagarjuna is coming in to action. His debut movie to be directed by V V Vinayak was launched on 17.12.2014.
Actor Naga Shourya had an hat trick of movie releases(Chandamama Kathalu ,Dikkulu Choodaku Ramayya and Lakshmi Raave Maa Intiki)
Actor Srikanth welcomed the year 2014 with the release of his movie titled ‘Kshathriya'(released on 1st January 2014) directed by K. Uday Kiran but could not impress.

Notable Tollywood Deaths in 2014:-
The year 2014,Tollywood has lost the legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao who died in the early hours of Wednesday,22nd January 2014 at a private Nursing home in Hyderabad.He was 90 at the time of his death. He is survived by 3 daughters and 2 sons. He was suffering with cancer.
Veteran Telugu Actress Anjali Devi passed away in Chennai on 13th January 2014 after a Cardiac arrest.
Satthiraju Lakshminarayana (Bapu) the popular artist, Cartoonist and movie director passed away due to illness on 31st August 2014 in Chennai.He was 81.
Popular Tollywood actress Telangana Shakunthala passed away due to cardiac arrest in the early hours of 14th June 2014.She was 63.
Chakri,one of the popular music directors of Tollywood died in early hours of 15th December 2014 after struggling with a massive heart attack in a private hospital in Hyderabad.He was 40.
The Legendary Director of South Indian Cinema,K.Balachander passed away in a private nursing home in Chennai around 7.00 PM on 23rd December 2014.He was 84.
Vajpeyajula Uday Kiran, 32 year old award winning actor committed suicide at his Residence in Hyderabad on 6th January 2014.
Many movies were launched and many movies audio’s were released but the movies are shelved due to the reasons best known to the producers.
The non-Telugu speaking heroines have acted in most of the 2014 released movies.Hope that more Telugu actresses will get heroine chance in more upcoming movies of 2015.
