Story:- The retired teacher Rama Murthy (Nagineedu) is a super-strict man who wants all of his family members to follow a certain set of rules that he’s set for them. Any member of the family is allowed to make 100 mistakes and after he commits the 100th mistake, he will be thrown out of the family, no longer being a part of it.
Sandeep (Sandeep Kishan) is his younger son who successfully manages to make 99 mistakes by getting himself involved in one fight or the other. The marriage of Bramhaji, the eldest son gets fixed and the whole family will have to travel to Tirupati for the wedding. All of them board the train except for Sandeep who fails to get to the station in time to catch it. Whats more, some really important things that are needed for the wedding to take place are with him.! And if he can’t make it to Tirupati in time, that will be his 100th mistake and he will be thrown out of the family!
How Sandeep manages to catch the train and save himself from the wrath of his father forms the rest of the story.
Review :- Venkatadri express is a nicely woven, entertaining flick that has the perfect proportions of romance, comedy, entertainment and drama. Kudos to the director Merlapaka Gandhi who managed to create such a neat flick being a debutante and never having worked under any other director as an assistant.
Sandeep Kishan, the brilliant artist that he has proven himself to be, stands out for his performance. Rakul Preet Singh along with bringing in that glamour quotient to the movie managed to do her best. The performances of the rest of the character artists like Nagineedu, Bramhaji and Thagubothu Ramesh are definitely an added asset to the movie. Ramana Gogula, the music director, we must say has done a great job with the background score. And one thing we can’t not talk about is Chota K. Naidu’s camera work, which definitely stands out.
The really touching climax scene between the father and the son will remind us somewhat of Bommarillu’s climax and definitely creates an impact on the audiences.
Bottomline: A light-hearted romantic comedy that gives you a much needed break from all the routine and heavy tollywood films.
