L V Prasad – 100 Years of Indian Cinema : 

The Indian cinema is celebrating the 100 year completion.Telugu cinema is completing 82 years of its first release of Bhaktha Prahlada(1931).As part of celebrations of Indian Cinema, businessoftollywood.com remembers and recollects the information of The Greats of Early Telugu Cinema 

Akkeneni Lakshmi Vara Prasad who was popularly known as L.V.Prasad was a Producer, Director,Actor and also a Studio Owner.
L.V.Prasad born on 17th January in the year 1908.
He was not interested in studies.He came to film industry where he faced several obstacles.He spent many days without food and finally he got a chance to act in a silent movie “Star of the East”, but was never released.he worked as an assistant director to work with Ali Shah.this is where his name was shortened to L.V.Prasad from Akkineni Lakshmi Vara Prasad.
He worked as assistant director to many directors.In the year 1943, he got the opportunity to work as assistant director to the movie “Gruhapravesam’.But due to circumstances he became the director of the film.In the year 1949, he introduced the great actor of Tollywood Shri N.T.Rama Rao to the Telugu Cinema with his movie “Mana Desam”.
He directed many movies.He was one of the pioneers of Indian Cinema.
He was honoured with the prestigious’Dadasaheb Phalke”award by the Government of India in the year1982.
He established Studios at Hyderabad.The L.V.Prasad’s Eye Institute and Prasad’s IMAX are a part of L.V.Prasad’s group.

2. L.V.Prasad was honoured by Government of Andhra Pradesh with the Prestigious Raghupathy Venkayya Award in the year 1980.
3. He was given the Kalatapasvi Award by the famous Telugu Cinema Weekly Magzine Sitara in the year 1983.
4.L.V.Prasad was awarded with the Andhra Ratna Award by Andhra Pradesh in the year 1987.
5. L.V.Prasad was honoured with Kalaa Poorna by Andhra University, Visakhapatnam in the year 1985.

L.V.Prasad died on 22nd June in the year 1994 at the age of 86.
