Producer Pranay Reddy Vanga Media Interview

Romanchakam” is a Good Entertainer That Both Youth and Family Audiences Can Enjoy: Producer Pranay Reddy Vanga

Presented by blockbuster director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and produced under the Bhadrakali Pictures banner, “Romanchakam” stars Sumanth Prabhas and Ananthika Sanilkumar in the lead roles. Produced by Pranay Reddy Vanga and directed by debutant filmmaker Venugopal Reddy, the film is an interesting youthful entertainer that blends romance, humour and suspense. The movie is gearing up for a grand worldwide theatrical release on the 3rd of this month. Producer Pranay Reddy Vanga spoke about the film’s highlights during an interview held today.

We are not the kind of people who approach film production with a very serious, corporate mindset by setting up teams and following a particular formula. We had listened to a few stories in the past, but we let them go because they were not close to our sensibilities. This story has humor, thrilling elements and fun situations among friends. We felt it had potential and decided to take it up. Director Venugopal has been travelling with us for the past three to four years. His narration of the script also impressed us.

There is a huge difference between Sandeep’s style as a director and Venugopal’s style. They are almost like two opposite poles. But Venugopal narrated the story from a common ground, and we really liked it. We asked him to shoot one scene and come back to us. He executed it very well. After seeing the output of that scene, we gained confidence that he could handle the film effectively. This is a character-driven movie. The story revolves around Sumanth Prabhas’s character. It explores what a young man does after completing his engineering, what happens in his life, how his love story progresses and what kind of confusion exists among his friends. Overall, it offers a lot of entertainment. The film has a runtime of 2 hours and 20 minutes, but it moves so fast and jovially that the audience will not feel the passage of time. There is no boredom anywhere. Vasuki has blended his music beautifully with the story and delivered wonderful music. Music has always received a good response in our films, and this movie will also impress audiences musically.

Once we approved this project, Sandeep did not interfere in the making of the film. He was busy with his work on “Spirit.” After the film was completed, he watched the first cut and was very happy with it. Our movie received a U/A certificate from the censor board. Youth and family audiences can watch the film together without any concerns. I personally like comedy films. If I really enjoy a comedy, I tend to watch it repeatedly.

The director has captured very well what happens between the four main characters in the film. There is no forced comedy anywhere. The humour is natural and organic, and it makes the audience laugh effortlessly. Venugopal is a producer-friendly director. Even when we offered to spend a little more on the film, he said that what we were giving was enough and that he did not need anything more. He completed the film within those requirements.

In the US, censorship is handled under the leadership of people from the industry, whereas in India, it is under the government. Given our traditions, customs and the beliefs of our people, certain censorship rules have been put in place. From the government’s perspective, those rules are justified. If filmmakers are aware of the rules, they can take the necessary precautions while making a film. Censorship rules are also updated from time to time.

Both the hero and heroine have performed very well in this movie. The actors who played their friends and those who took on other key roles have also delivered good performances. The technicians are also newcomers, but they worked with a lot of passion. We shot the film in Hyderabad and Chennai. The story is primarily set in Hyderabad. However, the slang used in the film is easy for everyone to understand and feels natural, like the way we normally speak.

Sandeep is always busy with his work. After the release of “Animal,” he got some time to relax. We have currently heard two more stories, but they are still on paper. Our entire focus is on “Spirit” at the moment. Once that is completed, we will think about new projects. Next year marks 10 years since the release of “Arjun Reddy.” We are planning to re-release the film on that occasion with a few additional scenes. The team at T-Series are very nice people, and our collaboration with them has been very successful. They have a lot of trust in us. Around 40 percent of “Spirit” has been completed so far. Prabhas has worked on the film for 40 days. If we come across good scripts, we will definitely produce small-budget films as well.
